COPPICE
FOALS 2014
Like most breeders
(and everybody else) we were hit by the recession and its impact on the pony market. As
we don't breed just to sell foals and as we have too much pride in our
ponies to sell them at silly low prices, we often hold onto our
youngsters, resulting in potential overstocking if we're not
careful. It's very hard to plan ahead in these difficult times - you
can't just switch breeding stock on and off, you're always looking at
least a year ahead. We reluctantly
took the decision not to cover any mares in 2011 and there were no Coppice foals in 2012. However,
we covered six mares for 2013 and we had an amazing five filly foals and
one colt in 2013 (see Youngsters page).
For
2014 we covered five mares and we will post the foals below as
they arrive. Some of them will be for sale at weaning.
We
also have some lovely youngsters for sale so have a look on the
Youngsters page and on the Ridden Ponies page for adult ponies.

Impressive, tall colt with big limbs and a very pretty 'Lolly'
head. From sought-after Southley & Riccalton bloodlines.
Already has 'spectacles' and so will not stay chestnut and will probably
go chestnut roan like his full brother Coppice Maverick. Very good
mover. Outstanding ridden prospect.

A smart, leggy colt with another very pretty 'Lolly' head. He
also is starting to show white hairs above his eyes and so will not stay
chestnut. As his mother is blue roan he could well go chestnut
roan Very elegant colt to make a nice ridden pony. Father is
Southley bred, mother is out of Clothie Fran, very old blue roan breeding.

Fortune held onto this one for months, so we had just written her off
as empty this year when she popped out this little beaut. Darling
little head, long legs and terrific movement. A ridden pony for the
future.
